Sedimentry rocks are normally stratified or bedded. They usually occur as layers parallel to the surface of which they were deposited. Many sedimentry rocks are clastic and are made up of fragments of other rocks cemented together by a solution. Many sedimentry rocks contain fossils which give us clues to life in the past. These types of rocks are variable in that some are composed of organic material. e.g. coal, and others are chemical perciptates. e.g. salt.
