Gastropod shells are the remains of of soft bodied animals such as snails, the body decyas upon death leaving only the shell which later becomes fossilised. Shells can be found in a variety of shapes such as spiraled or coned and in a variety of sizes.
Geological Age: Late Pleistocene, 2 - 3 million years old.
Fossil Location: Walton - on - Naze, Essex.
An unusual Gastropod because unlike the majority, this one coiled it's shell to the left. Hence the name Contraria. The name for this type of coiling is sinistral. Each specimen is supplied in a 3"x2" white card tray
